Happy Fathers Day and How to Use Air to Energize!

Happy Fathers Day!

First, shout out to my Dad for teaching me how to work hard, do what is right, and follow my dreams.  I love you Dad!

In today's video, I'll show you a breathing technique that will help you feel more energetic.  If you ever have had brain fog, trouble concentrating, are easily distracted, or feel trapped with distractions, this exercise can help!

This started for me years ago because I am a professional programmer by day.  Sitting in-front of the "ultimate distraction machine" for my job and side business was really draining my energy.  I was having trouble concentrating and focusing, which are essential parts of my job!

It was getting so bad, I had finally had enough.

I noticed when I was taking voice lessons, that after singing I had more energy.  My voice teacher was showing me how to breath more efficiently so I could sing better.  A-ha!  Breathing better bring more energy.

So I started to focus on breathing.  Next, I attended tons of training and seminars on high performance, and ran into the work of Dr. Daniel Amen.  My biggest take-away from his work is:  do more things that provide oxygen to the brain, and less things that reduce or restrict blood-flow and oxygen to the brain.  (sorry coffee and booze).

It was after studying Dr. Amen's work that I started a daily breathing habit.  In the morning, I take 20 deep breaths while bouncing to help take better care of my brain.

The results are still surprising to me!  I have more focus, more energy (as validated by my close people), and the brain fog has gone away.

So, what can you do to breath more efficiently and get more oxygen-y goodness to your brain?

  1. Breath 20 deep breaths, while jumping.

It will take you 2mins, and it will super-boost your energy!

Things to watch out for:

  1. Breath by expanding your stomach, not by raising your shoulders
  2. Relax your shoulders by letting your arms flop (demo in the video.  You are welcome, internet)
  3. Hear your breathing;  Loud inhale through your nose, Loud exhale through your mouth

So what would you do with all the extra energy you will have during the day?   When can you plan 2 minutes each day to take care of your brain and energize?

Make the commitment to incorporate this technique into routine every day, and check out how much better you feel!

In next weeks video, I'll share with you my philosophy around moving around!  Looking forward to seeing you then!

Best,

Shawn
