When it comes to coaching, there are many reasons hiring a coach can help you get ahead.   There are also reasons to save your money and explore other options.  It can be confusing and scary when you are trying to decide what to do.

Why To Hire a Coach:

Good coaching programs will have these similarities:

  1. Help With Clarity In Your Purpose: Discover clear and focused goals that will change your life drastically in the next year.
  2. Develop Effective Leadership: Gain new tools, strategies and confidence to break through limitations, persuade, inspire and connect with others.
  3. Achieve Your Fitness and Health Objectives: Higher energy, vitality and more accountability from a coach that pushes you. Stay committed for real results, and start living the life you desire.
  4. Prepare for Change or Transitions in Your Life:  Master your emotions in the face of life’s challenges and unexpected change.
  5. Ignite Passion in Your Relationships: Remove beliefs and thoughts keeping you from true connection. Get the tools you need to reignite passion, and to feel fulfillment in old and new relationships.

Why NOT To Hire a Coach:

Any good coach will tell you these are reasons NOT to hire them.

  1. To Heal Trauma: Unless they are also certified health professionals, coaches should not promise or dig into trauma.  Good coaches will refer you to a therapist or focus on making choices not based on your trauma.
  2. Because You Can’t “do it alone”: The truth is, most people do not need a coach because they already know what to do.  Coaches can help you reach your goals faster, and they do that by helping you leverage you.
  3. You just want a friend: Good coaches will cheer you on, and challenge you when you are not meeting your standards. Your friends might tell you what you want to hear, a good coach tells you what you need to hear.
  4. You are too busy to do the work:  If you know you will have problems scheduling coaching sessions and doing the work outside the sessions, you are not prioritizing your growth and will be wasting money.
  5. You are not open to new ideas: If you are being challenged properly, you should be learning about yourself and new things.  If you resist trying new things or change, coaching will be a tough process for you.
